Start with the spaces you need to use first. A kitchen reset before breakfast may be more useful than spending the same time on optional detail work in a guest room.
Describe the condition honestly
Tell the provider about the approximate event size, rooms used, dishes and waste. Include photographs of the areas that affect the workload. Identify stains without assuming they can be removed by routine cleaning.
If broken glass or other sharp objects are present, warn the provider and restrict access to the affected area. Do not leave an undisclosed hazard for someone to discover while cleaning.
Separate cleaning from removal
Putting bagged waste in the property’s designated containers is different from hauling away overflow, decorations or bulky items. Confirm who handles each task and whether disposal charges apply.
For dishes, specify whether the work means loading a dishwasher, hand washing, drying, putting items away or all of these. Appliance cycle times and available counter space affect the sequence.
Match the treatment to the surface
Spills on upholstery, rugs or delicate finishes may need a specialist. Tell the cleaner what caused the spill and what has already been applied. Avoid trying several unrelated products before obtaining advice.
Use upholstery cleaning, carpet cleaning and surface care to decide whether the work belongs in the general booking.
Confirm timing and price
Agree the arrival window, access, labour allowance, minimum charge, extras and taxes. If the deadline is important, ask what portion of the work can realistically be completed within it.
Set a short priority list: essential kitchen tasks, bathrooms, waste and main floors, followed by remaining work. Review the result against that list and approve any additional time before it is incurred.
